Meet the Women Who Make It Happen

TINA McCARTHY
Wheel Women Founder
Specialized Ambassador
Level 1 NCAS Cycling Coach
Tor Guides Australia Accredited Guide
WINNER Grand Prize Hiroshima Inbound Tourism Ambassadors Award
Tina wears many hats—and a helmet with pride. As an Ambassador for Specialized Bicycles, she’s a driving force in the cycling world, recognised with the Cycling Victoria Iris Dixon Award for her outstanding contribution to women’s cycling, and the national Cycling Luminaries Award for Leadership.
Not only is she a qualified cycling coach, skilled bike mechanic, and accredited tour guide, Tina also speaks a little Japanese—just enough to charm the locals and navigate the winding backroads of Japan with ease.
Her heart lies in Japan, where her love of cycling and passion for empowering women come together. Tina believes bikes are more than just transport—they’re a gateway to adventure and a bridge between cultures.
Her work fostering connection between Australian and Japanese cyclists earned her the prestigious Hiroshima Inbound Travel Ambassadors Grand Prize from the Hiroshima Government Tourism Department.
A proud self-confessed Japanophile, Tina is never happier than when she’s pedalling through hidden villages, under cherry blossoms, or sharing the magic of Japanese cycling with others.

Yuki - Japan
Yuki is our WW Japan representative and is always there to help us out with planning and finding cool rides...not to mention getting the locals together for a fun ride when the team is in town! DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A WHEEL WOMEN RIDE LEADER?
Our coaches and ride leaders aren’t chosen just for their cycling skills—they’re chosen for their heart. These are women who light up when they talk about bikes, who know how to connect, encourage, and empower. Many didn’t start out as pros—in fact, quite a few began just like the riders they now support. What sets them apart is their unwavering passion and their generous spirit in sharing it with others.
If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to help more women fall in love with riding”, then maybe it’s time to join us. We’re always looking for Ride Leaders in different regions—whether it's leading local rides, coaching new riders, or even guiding our unforgettable cycling tours in Japan.
All we ask is that you bring First Aid certification, solid riding experience, and a genuine desire to lead with kindness, patience, and positivity. It’s a volunteer role—but one that comes with a whole lot of rewards (and a few perks too!).
